Today, we are conducting a site visit at the SSGP (Sabah–Sarawak Gas Pipeline) sites in Lawas. The SSGP is a 500-kilometer natural gas pipeline connecting Kimanis in Sabah to Bintulu in Sarawak, part of the broader Petronas Sabah–Sarawak Integrated Oil and Gas Project.

Our visit focuses primarily on boreholes, as we have been invited to contribute to the soil investigation aspects of the project. However, as we join the group to several sites, we have observed that the pipes are laid either beneath or atop debris flow and landslides.

Despite our concerns, our role remains confined to soil investigation. Let’s hope their consultant did their homework.
